This tough, durable and versatile flooring solution is made from the husks of the coconut. Once harvested, the raw fibres are soaked for many months, beaten, washed and then dried. The end-process involves the fibres being spun into a yarn. Coir, in its natural state, has a warm golden hue ranging towards a more red and earthy colour. Coir carpets are completely organic and biodegradable. They are resistant to mould.
Ideally suited to almost any application, both winter and summer, coir can be used in most parts of the home including the kitchen and bathroom. Due to its hardiness, it can also be used in high traffic areas such as public spaces and offices.
